Auntie and JB

Last week, “The Greatest American Dog” was named and it went to Presley … who belongs to a native Oklahoman … what wasn’t publicized was “The Dog Who’s Value will NEVER be Able to be Calculated” – this prize goes to JB (well – it’s definitely a tie with Smiley) … who along with who she belongs to, Oleta Burkham (a.k.a. Auntie) is a lifelong Oklahoman. Along with becoming Auntie’s best friend and confidante, she has earned her weight in gold for keeping all of Auntie’s secrets! Thanks to the many weekend’s Jirl, Brenda and Bailey are on the road … JB gets to have Daisy (JB&B’s miniature Dachshund) as her overnight guest – and for the times my parents are “doing the retired traveling thing” … she gets to have Smiley (my other brother – and a Dachshund descendant) as an overnight guest … many times at the same time! Along with being quite the host to Daisy and Smiley … JB is quite the ball player and in my case, the hair puller … she has her own tricks for everyone … but none like she has with Auntie!! Recently, Auntie and JB came out for our weekly “hamburger night” … and JB was quite the guest. I know everyone is proud of their “4-legged child” … and as wild as JB can be when you are visiting at her home … she is quite the well-mannered guest! (I was quite impressed – and stunned!!) After we finished dinner – out to the yard we went … and JB had a blast playing ball … until she was tired of playing! She then took the ball and placed it between Auntie’s feet! When Auntie started walking toward her car, JB picked up the ball and took it to the car … it was a hoot! I am so thankful the time was right for my parents to endow Auntie with JB … together they are definitely the picture of “true love and commitment” – and never did Auntie think that all of her secrets would again be safe with anyone when Unk was gone. Little did she know that the pitter patter of “4 little feet” by the name of JB was going to enter her life - and ours!!
